Vicki Diamond

Hi there.

My name is Viki, and Math is my specialty, but I tutor all subjects.

I have my master's in education and have been tutoring and teaching folks since my teens. I can tutor a wide variety of subjects, most maths, sciences, and some languages. I love to help with proofreading papers and providing writing pointers. I work with both adults and children, elementary through college.

I also have a bachelors in business with a double major as well in finance and administration and a science degree in biology and chemistry.

I graduated with a 4.0, and that was mainly based on the massive amount of research and writing required.

I worked for years in a tutoring lab, doing mostly math and sciences, where we all shared our techniques, thus increasing our 'bags of tricks'. I tutored and taught at the NN shipyard apprentice school as well.

Later I became a specialist in teaching study skills as I have often found that subject matter isn't as much of a problem as learning how to learn and study productively. I have tons of tricks and techniques to help improve material absorption.

Additionally, I worked locally with a disability services office working with folks who have physical or learning disabilities. Within that position I learned many adaptive techniques to aid students depending on their needs.

I taught math courses at the apprentice school in Newport News for many years.

One more thing, most recently I have been a math SOL tutor and AVID tutor with Va Beach schools. That put me in an ideal position to understand exactly what the state requirements are of our schoolchildren.

Additionally, I am currently homeschooling my 12 year old grandson.
